18th Annual Celebrate Canada Day in Mill Woods Celebration
Welcome to the 18th Annual Celebrate Canada Day in Mill Woods Celebration. This event is put on by the ten Community Leagues located in Mill Woods and The Meadows, under the umbrella of the Mill Woodss Presidents' Council.
Community Leagues are an integral part of life in Edmonton. The Green Shack Program in your local playgrounds over the summer is directly funded by your Community Leagues. The Mill Woods Recreation Centre was a result of Community Leagues banding together to fundraise and demand a recreation facility for our residents. We have recently been successful in establishing the Mill Woods Seniors Centre. We are also currently in the process of fundraising and planning our very own Youth Centre.
These are just a few examples of how Community Leagues help make Edmonton a better place to live. Please visit the Community Tent near the stage and see what Community Leagues are all about. While you are there, you can also purchase your 2008 - 2009 memberships. Your support is invaluable to the continued success of Mill Woods and The Meadows.
Now sit back and enjoy the show. If you ahve any comments, I'll be down by the stage and would love to hear from you. You can also send your comments to mwcanadaday@millwoods.org.

The Mishaps
Alberta based The Mishaps was formed in 2007 with the goal of being the best working rock cover band in Alberta. The idea is simple, play fun music that people want to hear and have a great time doing it. Our tight set draws from some of the best known songs of the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and today straight up or with a twist. All members are experienced pros picked for their talent, musicianship, attitude and overall love of music. While The Mishaps don't take ourselves seriously and love to have fun, we also take pride in delivering a solid set that keeps audiences entertained and gets them dancing!

FREEBURN
Meet Freeburn, Alberta's purveyors of Friction-Free Rock and Roll.
For these five guys from Stony Plain, making Friction-Free rock means making the music they believe in and love: a sublime yet powerfully heartfelt mix of both classic and contemporary rock and roll. With raw, honest lyrics, superior guitar solos that echo the likes of Def Leppard and solid, classic rock drums, the young band creates songs of timeless integrity. Freeburn are not trying ot make manufactured music, pump out hits or sell an image. Together, the band mates (most of whom have been close friends for years) organically compose authentic sounds and palpably catchy riffs and melodies. Their fans range in age from eight to fifty-eight, and countless new ones are added at every Freeburn performance - no surprise, judging from their success so far.
