Mill Woods Community Patrol

This Halloween Helping Keep our Neighborhoods Safe

On Halloween evening, in an effort to further enhance the safety and well being of our communities’ children, volunteers from the Mill Woods Community Patrol will again be assisting the Edmonton Police Service by providing an extra set of “eyes and ears”.

Halloween is a fun and exciting time for children, but it can also be more than a little spooky too. Sometimes a child can be become lost in an unfamiliar neighborhood, be bullied or threatened for their candy or possessions, or possibly even have need for medical assistance.

Beginning at 6:00PM, Mill Woods Community Patrol members will be in their cars patrolling the streets and avenues of Mill Woods, from Ellerslie Road to Whitemud Drive and 17th Street to 91st Street.

Members of the Community Patrol will be working under the direction of the Edmonton Police Service and will be in constant radio contact with a police car and constable, who has been dedicated to this event.

Our cars will be clearly visible with Mill Woods Community Patrol signs on our vehicles’ front doors, our members will always have valid Edmonton Police Service identification on their person for that purpose, and an EPS Constable will only be a radio call away.

In case of worry or trouble, you or your child may stop us on the street for assistance, anywhere, anytime.

Please discuss this safety program with your children to let them know of another option if they find themselves lost, in trouble, need police or medical assistance, or the like.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call either the Mill Woods Community Patrol directly at 426-8546 to leave a message or contact our EPS Coordinator, Cst. Lisa Riou at the South East Community Police Station. Someone will be pleased to respond and explain more about either this Halloween patrol or the Mill Woods Community Patrol in general.

Have a safe and fun Halloween!
